President Bola Tinubu has approved the provision of free transportation across the country in celebration of Christmas.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, who briefed State House correspondents following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by the President on Monday.
According to Idris, the Federal Government will roll out free train services nationwide from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025, as part of the Christmas festivities.

He also revealed that the Federal Government has officially renamed the University of Abuja to Yakubu Gowon University.
On the 2025 budget, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, stated that the cabinet had an in-depth discussion on the Appropriation Bill.
He expressed confidence that the budget would enhance private sector involvement in the national economy.
Idris further confirmed that the FEC’s meeting on Monday would be the last for the year, with the council going into recess from December 18 until January 6, 2025.
