PSC Promotes 78 Senior Police Officers

The promotions were granted during the second Plenary Meeting of the PSC, which took place on Tuesday, December 17.

The decision was disclosed by PSC spokesman Ikechukwu Ani in a statement issued on the same day.

This meeting follows the PSC’s earlier approval on Monday, December 16, for the promotion of 11 Commissioners of Police to Assistant Inspectors General of Police, and 16 Deputy Commissioners to substantive Commissioners of Police.

Among those promoted to the rank of Commissioner is former DCP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, who previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of Administration and Finance in the Jigawa State Command.

Elleman also held the position of Head of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit and was formerly the Deputy Commissioner of Operations at Zone 7, Abuja.

In his statement, PSC spokesman Ikechukwu Ani noted that the promoted officers had undergone both written and oral examinations during the plenary session.

He also mentioned that key issues such as logistics and manpower shortages were identified as significant challenges facing various police departments, zones, states, and divisional commands.

The officers called for these challenges to be addressed in order to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.

The following ACPs were promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police:
