In a communique issued following a meeting in Makurdi, the state capital, the stakeholders also stated that the APC constitution does not provide for a caretaker committee, making any such committee unconstitutional and illegal.
The communique reaffirmed that Austin Agada remains the legitimate, elected chairman of the APC in Benue State.

Senator Jack Gyado, who read the statement, expressed disappointment over the divisions within the party despite its resounding success in the 2023 general elections.
He emphasized, “Any attempt to establish a caretaker committee that further divides us will fail, as it is not recognized in the APC constitution.”
The communique called on all party members to unite and support the SGF, who played a key role in leading the party to victory in the 2023 elections. It further warned that those who benefited from the SGF’s leadership and are now seeking his removal will face consequences in the 2027 elections.
