Defending champions City, who had ended a winless run with a victory over Leicester last week, continued their strong form with a convincing 4-1 win over Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.

City took the lead in the 10th minute when Vladimir Coufal inadvertently deflected Savinho’s cross past goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

The hosts doubled their advantage just before half-time when Savinho weaved past two defenders and delivered a perfect cross for Haaland, who lost Max Kilman and headed home.
