President Bola Tinubu has promoted his Aide-de-Camp, Lt. Col. Nurudeen Yusuf, to the rank of Colonel.
The official decoration ceremony took place on Thursday at the President’s office complex within the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Yusuf was appointed Aide-de-Camp in April 2023, ahead of President Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29, 2023.

After earning his Ordinary National Diploma in Computer Science from Offa Polytechnic in 2000, Yusuf enrolled at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical-Electronics).
He attended the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom between 2004 and 2005, where he was commissioned into the Officers Cadre.
In 2006, he furthered his military education at the Nigerian Army Intelligence School in Lagos, where he trained in intelligence and security, in line with the Nigerian Army’s training policies.
Yusuf continued his education with the Young Officer’s Course Infantry in Kaduna in 2007 and completed courses in Tactical Intelligence Officers and Security Investigations in 2008.
From 2009 to 2018, Yusuf received extensive military training internationally, including in Mali, Pakistan, China, Israel, and the UK. Notably, he earned a Master’s degree in Defence Studies from King’s College London in 2018.
His military career includes serving as Officer in Charge (Technical) for 119 Intelligence Group, Lagos, followed by a position as Operations Officer at HQ 4 Brigade, Benin.
He also served as Officer Commanding the State House Military Intelligence Group, and in 2015, he was appointed Officer Commanding the Presidential Body Guard at the State House, Abuja.
In 2017, Yusuf became Staff Officer Grade 1 at the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corp and later served as Military Assistant to the Chief of Training/Operations at Army Headquarters between 2017 and 2019.
He was subsequently promoted to Assistant Director of Intelligence/Security.
From 2020 to 2022, Yusuf was posted to the Nigerian Defence Section in Paris, France, where he served as a DDA Librarian. Prior to his current appointment as President Tinubu’s Aide-de-Camp, he was a Staff Officer at the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps Headquarters, Abuja.
