More Than 10,000 Homes, Businesses Destroyed, At Least 11 Dead In Los Angeles Fire

At least 11 lives have been confirmed lost so far.

For many, the tragedy marks the first exposure to the immense scale of the damage as the 13 million residents of the region face the daunting task of recovering and rebuilding.

A new flare-up in Southern California has prompted additional mandatory evacuation orders, as the Palisades Fire spreads northeast, according to reports.

Fox News reports that the latest evacuation order spans from Sunset Boulevard north to the Encino Reservoir, and from the 405 Freeway west to Mandeville Canyon.

Brentwood is also at risk.

Both I-405 northbound and southbound off-ramps at Getty Center Dr. and Skirball Center Dr. are now closed.

“The Palisades Fire has experienced a significant flare-up on its eastern side and continues to move northeast,” Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Erik Scott told KTLA.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office has implemented a curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in all mandatory evacuation zones affected by the Palisades and Eaton wildfires.

Residents are urged to stay out of these areas to ensure their safety and to allow emergency responders to do their work.

The curfew will be strictly enforced, and violators may face fines of up to $1,000 or potential imprisonment, the sheriff’s office warned.
