Kogi, Edo Get New Commissioners Of Police

In a statement announcing the appointments, PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani highlighted that the current Commissioners of Police for both states are set to retire soon.

CP Chukwuka Bertrand Onuoha, the Commissioner of Police for Kogi, is scheduled to retire on January 22, 2025, while CP Peter Umoru, the Commissioner for Edo, will retire on January 25, 2025.

Dantawaye, the new Kogi State Commissioner, previously held several significant roles, including Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Operations at the FCT Police Command, AC Field Studies at the Police Academy in Wudil, Kano, Area Commander in Karewa, Adamawa State, and AC Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Oyo State.

He also served as AC Admin Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) in Abuja, Area Commander at Area ‘H’ in Ogudu, Lagos State, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operations in Yobe State, DC Operations in Edo State, and most recently, CP Information Technology (IT) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Betty Enekpen Otimenyin began her career with the Bauchi State Command and has held various roles, including DPO in Plateau and Edo Commands.

She served as Assistant Commissioner of Police Administration in Kebbi State and the Nigeria Port Authority Western Port in Lagos, as well as Area Commander in Eleme, Rivers State, and Mbaitoli, Imo State.

Otimenyin was also Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration at Zone 13 in Dunokuofia, Anambra State, and Zone 5 in Benin, Edo State.

She currently serves as Commissioner of Police Administration at the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja.

DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd), Chairman of the Commission, urged the newly appointed Commissioners to dedicate themselves to the service of their country.

He encouraged them to quickly acclimate to their roles and work towards enhancing security in their respective states. Argungu assured that the Commission would closely monitor their performance and continue to support their efforts.

The approval of the appointments has been communicated to the Inspector General of Police for implementation through a letter signed by Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, the Secretary to the Commission.
