In separate statements issued to journalists on Thursday, both leaders expressed their grief. Onanuga, 59, a Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives representing Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Federal Constituency, passed away on Wednesday in a UK hospital after battling illness for more than two months.
Governor Abiodun, in his condolence message, described the death of the late lawmaker, affectionately known as Ijaya, as both devastating and shocking.
He emphasized that her passing is an immense loss to Ogun State and the entire country.

The governor remembered the deceased as a courageous leader, a dedicated party member, and a powerful mobilizer who made significant contributions to the progress of women and the overall well-being of her constituents right up until her passing.
