On Tuesday, the tail of a passenger plane caught fire at an international airport in Busan, South Korea, prompting the evacuation of 176 people onboard, according to Yonhap news agency.
The Air Busan flight, en route to Hong Kong from Gimhae International Airport in Busan, caught fire at around 10:30 pm local time (1330 GMT), Yonhap reported.
A total of 169 passengers and seven flight attendants evacuated the plane via inflatable slides. The news agency did not provide details on the cause of the fire.
It also mentioned that one person was injured, but no further information was given.
Fire authorities in Busan were unavailable for comment when contacted by AFP.
This incident follows South Korea’s deadliest aviation tragedy in recent history, which occurred last month when a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800, en route from Thailand to Muan, crash-landed and exploded on December 29, killing 179 of the 181 people onboard.
According to Flightradar24, Air Busan’s fleet consists solely of Airbus aircraft.
