Shehu Sani Reacts As El-Rufai Criticises APC

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Senator Shehu Sani, has criticized former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for his recent political comments.

Sani accused El-Rufai of practicing tyranny during his time in office, only to now advocate for democracy after leaving power.

This criticism follows El-Rufai’s remarks on Monday in Abuja, where he accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of straying from its founding principles and fostering poor leadership.

He had said, “You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today.”

Reacting to El-Rufai’s comments, Sani, in an interview with The Punch on Tuesday said, “The man with a history of undisguised intolerance to the opposition and hypersensitive allergy to criticisms has no moral or saintly authority to stand on the pulpit of democracy to preach about good governance.”

Comparing El-Rufai’s behaviour to someone bitter over rejection, Sani added, “If Nasir El-Rufai is in a Keke Napep, he will call it a Lamborghini; if he is thrown out of the Lamborghini, he will call it a Keke Napep. He demonised the opposition while in the palace but now embraces them in the wilderness.”

According to him, Tinubu’s government today is led by illiterates because they refused to appoint Professor Nasiru, whom Sani alleged “left behind a heap of garbage in Kaduna and is now preaching hygiene in Nigeria.”
