State Independent Electoral Commission Chairman Kidnapped

Prof. George Chima, the Chairman of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), has been abducted from his home in Okigwe, Imo State.

According to sources who spoke to Vanguard, four gunmen, believed to be kidnappers, stormed the ABSIEC chairman’s residence while he was hosting some lecturers from Abia State University, Uturu, and took him captive.

The gunmen reportedly tried to abduct him in his car, which his driver was cleaning at the time, but the car wouldn’t start despite their efforts to drive it.

An eyewitness reported that the kidnappers then hijacked a passing vehicle carrying logs of wood and fled with the ABSIEC chairman.
