Large sections of the military aircraft that crashed in the Ondo River have been recovered as search and retrieval teams intensify operations at the crash site in Igbokoda, Ondo State.

Emergency response crews, local divers and military personnel pulled major fragments of the wreckage—including portions of the fuselage and engine components—from the riverbed following days of intensive underwater and surface search efforts.

The recovery operation comes in the wake of the fatal crash involving a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) surveillance aircraft on Monday, October 5, 2026, which claimed the lives of 25 personnel on board.

Footage from the scene shows salvage personnel securing and towing heavy aluminum and steel debris from the water to the riverbank for forensic examination and investigation by military aviation experts.

Officials confirmed that the recovered wreckage will be moved to a secure facility to assist investigators in reconstructing the sequence of events leading up to the tragic crash.
