Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has advised political aspirants caught in the legal web of the recent Supreme Court verdict regarding the Electoral Act to seriously evaluate stepping down from their respective races.

Taking to his official social media handle to address the development, Sani cautioned that pushing forward despite the legal implications would only amount to a futile expenditure of time and financial resources.

He acknowledged that loyalists and campaign supporters would likely pressure affected politicians to remain in the contest, but warned them not to give in to external validation that leads to a dead end.

Reinforcing his stance with personal insight, Sani stated, “If you are one of those candidates affected by the September Supreme Court ruling, you shouldn’t waste your time and resources.”

He added, “Your supporters will continue to beat the drums for you to stay in the race but you are heading to nowhere. We have the experience of losing and winning elections, not as analysts or commentators but as active, frontline participants so we know both sides very well.”
