Trump Says US Airstrikes Have ‘Killed Many’ ISIS Terrorists In Somalia

Donald Trump stated that “many” ISIS terrorists were killed in caves in Somalia by U.S. airstrikes he ordered earlier that morning.

On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump explained that he had authorized precision airstrikes targeting a senior ISIS attack planner and other terrorists in Somalia.

According to Trump, these terrorists, who had been hiding in caves, posed a threat to the U.S. and its allies.

The strikes destroyed the caves and killed many terrorists without harming any civilians.

Trump did not provide names or specific details about the targeted individuals or the exact location of the strikes.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that the strikes were carried out by U.S. Africa Command and were coordinated with Somalia’s government.

Initial assessments indicated multiple operatives were killed, and no civilians were harmed.

The operation was framed as a message to ISIS and other groups threatening the U.S. and its allies, signaling that the U.S. is committed to finding and eliminating such threats.

The Somali president’s office highlighted that the operation strengthened the security partnership between the U.S. and Somalia in combating extremism.

Trump also remarked that the attack planner had been a target for years, but claimed the Biden administration had failed to act quickly enough, stating that he was the one to get the job done.

This operation follows a history of U.S. military strikes in Somalia under both Republican and Democratic administrations.
