The leadership crisis within the Lagos State House of Assembly is still unresolved following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on January 13, 2025.
Some members of the assembly have traveled to Abuja to meet with President Bola Tinubu to address the ongoing leadership issues.
On Monday, February 3, a meeting was held at Lagos House Marina with members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The meeting was attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat, GAC leader Tajudeen Olusi, and other members.
While the exact agenda of the meeting was not disclosed, it is likely that Obasa’s removal will be a key topic of discussion.
Obasa’s ousting by 32 members of the House on January 13 has led to political tensions and significant controversy within Lagos State’s political scene. On January 30, 2025, the Department of State Services (DSS) intervened after Obasa filed a petition regarding his removal, alleging that it was politically motivated and linked to misconduct, abuse of office, and financial mismanagement.
After questioning the lawmakers for several hours, the DSS released all the detained members late on Thursday.
