Atiku Makes New Appointment

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has appointed Hon. Tanimu Tahir as his Special Assistant on Youth Engagement and Strategy.

Tanimu, a native of Marama town in Hawul Local Government Area, Borno State, previously served as Special Assistant on Radio Affairs during Governor Babagana Zulum’s first tenure.

A letter regarding the appointment, obtained by a source on Sunday in Maiduguri, describes Tanimu as a dynamic and results-driven youth development and communications expert.

“Tanimu brings over ten years of experience in youth development, civic engagement, campaign strategy, and media relations. His appointment underscores a renewed focus on ensuring the needs, challenges, and creative contributions of young Nigerians are recognized and actively included in national discourse.”

In his new role, Tanimu will lead initiatives aimed at connecting Atiku Abubakar with Nigeria’s youthful population.

“His duties will involve developing a comprehensive youth mobilization strategy that utilizes modern digital platforms, grassroots activism, and town hall meetings to foster meaningful conversations between young Nigerians and the Atiku 2027 campaign. Additionally, he will oversee high-impact public relations campaigns to highlight Atiku Abubakar’s vision for youth-driven national progress,” the letter states.

Tanimu will also be tasked with creating compelling narratives, managing media outreach, leading social media campaigns, and ensuring the campaign’s messages resonate with young voters, encouraging their active participation in shaping the nation’s future.

Beyond communications, he is expected to collaborate with youth-led organizations, thought leaders, and advocacy groups to build strategic alliances that enhance the campaign’s visibility and impact.

“His leadership will be vital in turning youth aspirations into tangible policies that align with Atiku Abubakar’s broader goals for national development, economic revitalization, and social progress,” the letter added.

Expressing confidence in the appointment, the former presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 reaffirmed his commitment to empowering young Nigerians.

“Nigerian youth are the architects of our future, and their involvement is key to building a nation that reflects their dreams and ambitions. With Tanimu A. Tahir leading our youth engagement strategy, we are solidifying our commitment to ensuring that young people are not just participants but central to our journey toward progress,” Atiku said.

Tanimu thanked the former vice president for the opportunity and expressed eagerness to begin the task ahead.

“Nigerian youth have immense potential, and my mission is to ensure their voices are heard, their concerns addressed, and their contributions recognized as integral to shaping a new era of leadership and governance,” Tanimu said.

He added that with this appointment, Atiku’s campaign takes a major step toward creating an energized, youth-driven movement that reflects the aspirations of the next generation.

“As preparations for the 2027 elections intensify, this bold move will mobilize young Nigerians, build political momentum, and strengthen Atiku Abubakar’s position as a champion of youth inclusion and national transformation,” he concluded.
