The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will be temporarily closed on Monday, February 17, 2025, in honor of Presidents’ Day.
A statement shared on X on Sunday by the diplomatic mission confirmed the closure and assured the public that regular operations would resume the next day.

“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day. We will resume normal operations on Tuesday, 18 February 2025,” the statement read.
The U.S. celebrates Presidents’ Day every year on the third Monday of February to honor both past and present national leaders.
Although essential services will still be available through emergency contact channels, regular consular services will resume after the holiday.
Nigerians wishing to apply for U.S. visas or seek consular assistance are encouraged to plan their visits accordingly.
