The Court of Appeal in Ibadan has upheld the ascension of Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomosoland.
The appeal court’s decision overturned the earlier ruling by a lower court that had nullified the kingmakers’ selection and enthronement of Ghandi.
A three-judge panel, led by Justice Yargata Nimpar, heard the case, which involved ten grounds of appeal.

The previous judgment, delivered by Justice Adedokun on a petition filed by Prince Kabiru Laoye, had ruled that proper procedures were not followed in selecting and enthroning Oba Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomosoland.
Justice Adedokun declared the appointment of Oba Ghandi as illegal and ordered a new selection process for the position of Soun.
Unhappy with the high court’s ruling, the defendant appealed to the Court of Appeal.
The latest ruling thus resolved all disputes surrounding the selection and enthronement of Oba Ghandi as the Soun of Ogbomosoland.
