Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of $4.7m, ₦830m, Properties Linked To Emefiele

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the permanent forfeiture of $4.7 million, ₦830 million, and several properties linked to Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

In a ruling delivered on Friday, Justice Yellim Bogoro also ordered the final forfeiture of $900,000 worth of investments tied to Emefiele’s close relative, Anita Joy Omoile.

Additionally, the court directed the forfeiture of $4.4 million in investments associated with Deep Blue Energy Services Ltd, ₦283 million in Zenith Bank linked to Liman Investment Ltd, €20,000, and £1,999.50, connected to Exactquote Bureau De Change (BDC), all of which are companies associated with Omoile.

Following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Justice Bogoro ruled that these funds, which were deemed to be proceeds from illegal activities, should be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
