In response, officers from the Iguobazuwa Police Division, along with the Nigerian Army and Vigilantes, were quickly dispatched to the scene.

“The team transported some casualties to the hospital, where seven people were confirmed dead and six others are being treated for their injuries. The joint operation continues, as the situation is now under control and normalcy has been restored,” Yamu said.

Yamu, a Chief Superintendent of Police, added that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the clash.

The state Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, has pledged that every effort will be made to uncover the details surrounding this tragic event.

Describing the incident as avoidable, Yamu emphasized that the Commissioner of Police urged the public to address grievances through the proper channels rather than resorting to violence.
