Former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has been hospitalized in Shanghai, China, due to vestibular neuritis, an inflammation affecting the nerve responsible for balance.
According to AFP, her team confirmed the hospitalization on Tuesday, stating that the 77-year-old economist, who currently heads the New Development Bank (NDB), is “responding well to treatment” and is expected to be discharged in a few days.
Rousseff was admitted to the Shanghai East International Medical Center on February 21. Despite her condition, she has continued carrying out her duties.
She was appointed as NDB president by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in 2023.
