The Lagos State Police Command has announced the reinstatement of security details for the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Meranda.
Earlier on Thursday morning, the security escorts assigned to her office and residence were withdrawn, sparking widespread reactions.
This came after the security details of the impeached Speaker, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, were reinstated, allowing him to storm the assembly complex and declare himself Speaker.

He even presided over a plenary session with only a few lawmakers in attendance.
However, during a press briefing on Thursday, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, clarified that four security personnel previously withdrawn from the Speaker had been restored.
He explained that the withdrawal of security details for the Speaker and other VIPs in the state was part of an ongoing nationwide audit of police personnel and firearms, which is also being carried out in other state police commands, not just in Lagos.
