Many Lawmakers Absent As Obasa Presides Over Lagos Assembly Plenary

The session followed reports that security operatives had forcefully opened the chamber doors, allowing Obasa and his supporters to enter.

As of 3 p.m., the plenary was still in progress, but more than 26 lawmakers had boycotted it, seemingly in solidarity with the substantive Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.

Meanwhile, the lawmakers gathered at the Assembly’s garden, reaffirming their February 17 vote of confidence in Meranda, despite Obasa’s return, which was allegedly facilitated by armed personnel and suspected political thugs.
