Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has vowed that the injustice against her “will not be sustained” following her six-month suspension from the Senate.
She made this statement on Thursday in response to the decision by the upper chamber of the National Assembly to suspend her. Before being escorted out of the chambers, she declared, “This injustice will not be sustained.”
The tension between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio began on February 20, when the two engaged in a heated exchange over a change in seating arrangements.

A few days later, in an interview with Arise News, Akpoti-Uduaghan claimed that her troubles in the Senate began after she rejected sexual advances from Akpabio.
She subsequently submitted a petition alleging sexual harassment by Akpabio.
However, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions rejected the petition, citing procedural violations and breaches of Senate rules.
During Thursday’s plenary, Akpoti-Uduaghan resubmitted her petition against the Senate President.
The Senate’s Ethics Committee, in turn, recommended her six-month suspension for her involvement in the heated debate with Akpabio over seating arrangements.
