Why I Build, Renovate Churches – Bauchi Governor

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed, explained the rationale behind his administration’s efforts to build and renovate churches.

Governor Muhammed shared his reasoning during a condolence visit to Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, over the deaths of Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni and Sheikh Hassan Saeed Jingir, the second national deputy chairman of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), at the Government House in Jos.

He stated that the construction and renovation of churches in Bauchi is a matter of citizens’ rights.

“You renovated a mosque as governor of Plateau State, which had never been done before. It may seem small, but that’s what we’re doing in Bauchi. We build and renovate churches because it is their right as citizens of the state,” the governor emphasized.

While offering his condolences to Governor Mutfwang, Governor Muhammed mourned the loss of Sheikh Jingir, describing him as an uncontroversial Islamic cleric whose absence will be deeply felt by both Islam and the wider Muslim community.

He recalled enjoying Sheikh Jingir’s sermons and recognized his significant contributions to the spread of Islam.

Governor Muhammed also praised Mutfwang for his inclusive leadership and expressed solidarity, saying, “What touches Plateau also touches us. As your neighbor, we will continue to highlight the good work you are doing.”
