Aliko Dangote announced plans to construct a major seaport at the Olokola Free Trade Zone in Ogun State and to expand cement production.
He revealed that two new cement production lines, adding 6 million metric tons annually, are being built in Itori, supplementing the existing 12 million metric ton plant in Ibeshe.
Dangote mentioned that previous construction at the Itori site was twice demolished, but he returned due to Governor Dapo Abiodun’s support.

Governor Abiodun welcomed these plans, highlighting that the cement expansion would make Ogun State the largest cement producer in sub-Saharan Africa, with a total capacity of 18 million metric tons.
Dangote also noted that 70% of his company’s African cement production is in Nigeria, with the Obajana plant in Kogi State being a major contributor.
Following the meeting, Dangote and officials visited the Itori cement plant construction site and the Papalanto concrete road project. Local traditional rulers were also present during the visit.
