The explosion, near the Bodo-Bonny Road construction site, happened late Monday night.
Videos from Tuesday morning show thick black smoke and a fire spreading into the nearby mangrove.
The Trans Niger Pipeline is a federal pipeline that transports oil to the Bonny Export Terminal.
