Police Reacts To Reports Of Explosion At Trans-Niger Pipeline In Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed an explosion on the Trans-Niger Pipeline (TNP) in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson SP Grace Iringe-Koko stated that the explosion occurred late Monday night and damaged the pipeline, which transports crude oil to the Bonny Terminal.

Details are still being gathered, and further information will be released as the investigation proceeds.

The TNP, now owned by Aiteo Group, has a capacity of 180,000 barrels per day.

Eyewitnesses reported the explosion impacted a main section of the pipeline, but the cause is still unknown.

This incident occurs amid heightened political tensions in the state.
