Two PDP Reps Defect To APC

Two PDP members of the House of Representatives, Husseini Jallo (Kaduna) and Adamu Tanko (Niger), have defected to the APC, citing ongoing crises within the PDP.

Jallo stated that the PDP’s instability hindered his ability to serve his constituents, and that he was attracted to the APC’s platform.

Tanko also cited consultations with stakeholders in his constituency.

Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda argued that the defecting members’ seats should be declared vacant, citing Supreme Court rulings on defection.

He stated that the defection process was incomplete.

Deputy Minority Leader Ali Isa asserted that the PDP is strong and without crisis, and that the defecting members should resign and face re-election.
