FG Approves NYSC Mobilisation For All Full-Time HND Graduates

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced that all full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates will now be eligible for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

This decision, resolving a long-standing issue, was communicated in a statement by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.

Boriowo quoted Alausa as stating that, following discussions with the NYSC Director-General, only full-time HND graduates qualify for mobilization.

This marks a significant change for full-time HND holders, who were previously excluded from the NYSC program.

The Minister said that this decision demonstrates the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to equity, fairness, and inclusivity in Nigeria’s education system.

“However, those who did HND part-time are not eligible for mobilisation at all.

“To facilitate a seamless mobilisation process, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been directed to expedite the collation of data for eligible HND graduates.

“In line with this, a circular has been sent to all Rectors of Polytechnics, instructing them to upload the necessary graduate data onto the newly created HND admission portal,” he said.

Minister Alausa clarified that only graduates of full-time HND programs are eligible for NYSC mobilization; part-time HND graduates remain ineligible.

He announced the creation of a new portal to ensure accurate documentation of full-time HND graduates, which will also serve as the official database for NYSC mobilization, addressing previous issues with admission records.

He encouraged all eligible full-time HND graduates to promptly take advantage of this opportunity and proceed with their mobilization.

He reiterated the government’s dedication to providing equal opportunities for all qualified Nigerian graduates and facilitating their contributions to national development through the NYSC scheme.
