Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has criticized the quality of the ₦10.8 billion Gully Erosion Control Project in Kargo, expressing disappointment with the contractor, Retercha Company Limited.

During an unannounced visit on Saturday, Namadi found the materials used to be substandard, and warned that his administration would not accept poor workmanship.

The World Bank-supported project, part of the ACReSAL initiative, aims to address erosion in Danmasara, Yalwawa, and Kargo communities.

He instructed the contractor to rectify the substandard work immediately, ensuring the project’s objectives are met.

The contractor’s representative at the site declined to comment on the governor’s concerns.
