Chelle Speaks After Nigeria’s Draw Against Zimbabwe

Super Eagles Head Coach Eric Chelle voiced his disappointment following the 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe in their 2026 World Cup qualifier match.

Speaking at the post-match press conference at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday, Chelle expressed his frustration.

He stated that he had anticipated the players would capitalize on their first-half opportunities and secure a victory.

Chelle felt the team deserved to win, citing their strong performance in the first half, but they ultimately conceded an equalizer in the 90th minute.

“I taught we will score goals in the first half and win the match. We made some mistakes and Zimbabwe equalised.

“We had a lot of chances to score goals but the chances were not utilised well,” Chelle said.

Chelle reassured Nigerians that he would thoroughly analyze the match and develop strategies for future games to ensure qualification for the World Cup.
