Atiku Speaks On Alleged Money He Collected From Sanwo-Olu For 2023 Election Campaign

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has denied receiving any funds from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his 2023 election campaign.

In a statement released by the Atiku Media Office in Abuja on Thursday, Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, refuted the circulating reports alleging that Sanwo-Olu provided financial support to Atiku’s 2023 presidential campaign.

Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, dismissed the allegations as “a lie and kindergarten propaganda.”

Ibe stated that the report claimed Sanwo-Olu made Lagos State funds available to Atiku and that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was investigating the matter.

He described the report as “a blatant lie from the pit of hell; a contrived political hogwash and a futile campaign of calumny aimed at advancing a political interest against Abubakar.”

Ibe further clarified that Atiku does not personally know Sanwo-Olu and has never met him.

“How is it possible for an Atiku who did not know and had no connection with Sanwo-Olu to have a transaction with him involving the exchange of money, let alone during the presidential election of 2023 in which his boss was a contestant? To what end would that be? he queried.

Paul Ibe, Atiku Abubakar’s media aide, urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to publicly disclose the results of their purported investigation, given that they have been implicated in the matter.

He also called for an immediate end to what he described as a “voyage of misadventure” and a “campaign of calumny” against Atiku Abubakar’s person and reputation.
