Premier League Alters Transfer Window

The Premier League will implement two transfer windows this summer to facilitate player registration for Manchester City and Chelsea in the Club World Cup.

A special transfer window, running from June 1 to 10, will allow Premier League clubs to recruit and register players specifically for this tournament.

This exceptional registration period was authorized by FIFA in October and is available to national associations with teams participating in the expanded Club World Cup, which begins in the United States on June 14.

The tournament offers substantial prize money, with potential earnings of up to $125 million for the winners, and a total prize pool of $1 billion shared among the 32 participating teams.

Chelsea and Manchester City will represent England due to their Champions League victories in 2021 and 2023, respectively.

This early registration period could allow teams like Real Madrid to potentially finalize transfers, such as the rumored signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, in time for the tournament.

FIFA regulations restrict closed-season transfer windows to a maximum of 12 weeks.6\ Consequently, the Premier League transfer window will close from June 11 to 15 and then reopen from June 16 until Monday, September 1.
