Shehu Sani Reacts To Tinubu’s Appointment Of APC Spokesman As NTA Board Chairman

Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has expressed concern that the appointment of the All Progressives Congress (APC) spokesman as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) could negatively impact the perception of the NTA’s content.

Sani made this statement in an X (formerly Twitter) post on Saturday, following President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, to chair the NTA board.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Friday.

Sani argued that Morka’s appointment would raise further questions about the objectivity, image, and professionalism of the national broadcaster.

“The NTA is statutorily owned by the FG.

“However, appointing the spokesperson of the ruling party to chair its board would cast aspersions on its contents.

“Its objectivity, image and professionalism would be questioned more than ever before.

“The party spokesman should be considered for alternative appointment to save the station,” he said.
