We’re Putting Together New 2025 Budget For Rivers – Ibas

Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Administrator of Rivers State, announced on Thursday that a 2025 appropriation bill is being developed to address key development needs in healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure.

He also stated that the budget will focus on job creation and advancing technology in public services.

Ibas made this announcement while hosting the Rivers State National Assembly caucus, led by Senator Barinada Mpigi, at Government House in Port Harcourt.

The delegation included several other National Assembly members.

The Administrator emphasized his commitment to restoring law and order since taking office, stating that with security agency support, a safer and more valued environment has been created for Rivers residents.

He aims to make Rivers a model of peace, with a stable economy and citizens who can pursue their livelihoods without fear.

“In addition to our peace building efforts, we are also focused on the economic stability and development of Rivers State,” he stated.

“Since the Supreme Court verdict on the state’s budget, we have acted swiftly and decided to put together a new budget that reflects our commitment to healthcare, education, social services, and continued infrastructural development.

“We have worked diligently to ensure that the process is transparent, inclusive, and most importantly expedited. Our goal is to ensure that we do not lose any more time in making the necessary investments that will improve the lives of citizens.

“The budget which is been finalized focuses on creating job opportunities and investing in key sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and technology. We understand the urgency of this initiative, and we are committed to ensuring that they are implemented without delay.”

Ibok-Ete Ibas emphasized that the cooperation of the National Assembly legislators is crucial for the success of his administration’s goals, as they are key representatives of Rivers State.

He requested their support in obtaining the necessary funding and legislative approvals to implement his initiatives.

“Your partnership is critical to success in ensuring that Rivers State remains on the path of progress and enduring peace for future generations,” Ibas stated.

Ibok-Ete Ibas stated that to address the issues in Rivers State, which prompted President Tinubu’s state of emergency declaration, his administration utilized dialogue, community involvement, and reconciliation to foster trust among residents.

He acknowledged the resilience and patience of the Rivers State people in the ongoing efforts to restore peace and respect for the law.

He reiterated his administration’s dedication to establishing lasting peace in the state.

“Beyond security, we have prioritised community engagements as a central part of our strategy. Dialogue, reconciliation, and inclusivity have been key to building trust among our people.

“We are determined to strengthen the bond of unity in Rivers State and to foster an environment where every citizen feels valued, heard, and respected. Together, we are making strides in ensuring that peace becomes a permanent feature of our state.”

Senator Barinada Mpigi, speaking for the Rivers South-East District, affirmed the National Assembly delegation’s commitment to supporting development in Rivers State.

He praised the Administrator’s accomplishments and pledged the legislators’ cooperation in restoring law and order to the state.
