Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has appointed Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, President of the Court of Appeal, to lead the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.
This appointment is part of an effort to resolve ongoing internal issues and improve the club’s management.
The new board was inaugurated at Wike’s residence in Abuja on Friday.

Justice Dongban-Mensem succeeds General I.B.M. Haruna (rtd) as chairperson, and the board includes other notable figures. Former BoT members, including General Haruna, will now serve as patrons, while Chief Philip Asiodu will no longer be involved.
Wike emphasized the FCT Administration’s commitment to revitalizing the club, citing the need to address recent crises.
He tasked the new board with ensuring transparent elections, amending the club’s constitution, and securing its registration. Wike also clarified that the club remains under the FCT Administration’s ownership.
He thanked General Haruna for his service and assured the new board of the government’s full support, highlighting the significance of appointing the President of the Court of Appeal to lead the board.
He called for improvements to the club’s infrastructure and services to restore its international standing.
Justice Dongban-Mensem expressed her gratitude for the appointment and acknowledged the club’s importance.
She pledged to restore harmony and unity among members, calling for cooperation among her fellow board members.
She outlined the board’s commitment to effective management and collaboration, aiming to enhance the club’s reputation and usher in a new era of success.
