Number Of South East Youths Who Registered For Army Recruitment Revealed

Brigadier-General Chima Ekeator, the leader of the Army Force Headquarters Recruitment Sensitisation Team in Anambra, has revealed that only 200 youths from the South-East region have registered for the current Army recruitment drive nationwide.

Ekeator shared this information during a sensitization event organized for youth leaders and the President-Generals (P-Gs) of various communities in Anambra State.

He emphasized the need to encourage young people in these communities to participate in the recruitment process.

“This sensitisation is necessary because, according to records, only 200 persons have registered from the South-East, while in other states, not less than 4000 persons have registered,” Ekeator stated.

“We are calling on youth leaders and P-Gs to go to their communities to talk to the youths and encourage them to take part in the recruitment.”

Ekeator added that greater youth participation would improve the representation of the South-East in the Army, ensuring that the region’s allocated quota is fully utilized.

In his remarks, Anambra Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo assured that the state government would continue its efforts to raise awareness among young people and encourage their participation in the recruitment.

Soludo, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Aghambah, urged traditional rulers and P-Gs to collaborate in mobilizing ten youths each from their communities to join the Army through the ongoing recruitment.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, clarified that the recruitment is aimed at youths aged 18 to 22 and encouraged them to enroll in the Army.
