Barcelona Vs Real Madrid Copa del Rey Final Match Report

In a thrilling 2025 Copa del Rey final played in Seville on Saturday, Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 3-2 in extra time, with Jules Kounde scoring the decisive late goal.

Barcelona, aiming for a quadruple this season, secured their first major trophy under coach Hansi Flick and dramatically won their record-extending 32nd Spanish Cup.

Pedri put Barcelona ahead, but Real Madrid responded with two goals in seven second-half minutes from Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni, leveling the score.

However, Ferran Torres scored in the 84th minute, sending the game into extra time, where Kounde’s strike secured the victory for the La Liga leaders.

The match ended with controversy as substituted Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger was sent off for apparently throwing an object towards the referee, and Lucas Vázquez, also substituted, was dismissed for further protests.

After the match, Torres told La 1, “It was a good time to bring joy to our fans — we have to enjoy it but without forgetting the Champions League semis are coming,” referencing their upcoming match against Inter Milan.

A delighted Hansi Flick told Movistar, “They can make a party — for today, it’s OK,” noting his perfect record of seven wins in seven career finals.

Real Madrid started with their top scorer Mbappe on the bench due to an ankle injury and lost Ferland Mendy early in the game due to a thigh injury.

Barcelona took the lead in the 28th minute with a precise and powerful shot from Pedri from just outside the box.

Real Madrid equalized in the 70th minute with a free kick from Mbappe and then took the lead seven minutes later with a header from Tchouameni.

However, Barcelona’s Torres leveled the score in the 84th minute after a pass from Lamine Yamal.

The match went to extra time, where Kounde’s goal secured the 3-2 victory for Barcelona. The match concluded with the dismissals of Madrid’s Rudiger and Vázquez for their actions and protests towards the referee.
