Following a series of recent defections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled an emergency meeting of its National Working Committee (NWC).
Setonji Koshoedo, the acting secretary appointed by PDP governors, stated in an invitation letter to members that the meeting will take place on Tuesday in the NWC hall at the national secretariat.
According to the letter, the purpose of the meeting is to address the recent wave of defections and other internal issues that have been affecting the party.

The invitation letter reads, “Based on popular demand and wide consultation, I have been directed to call for an NWC Meeting as detailed below:
“Date: Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, Venue: National Working Committee,NWC, Hall, Wadata Plaza, PDP National Secretariat, Abuja. Time: 12 Noon Prompt.
“All members of NWC and Cabinet Secretaries should pls note.”
Last week, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori left the opposition PDP to join the ruling APC.
He was accompanied by the PDP’s former vice-presidential candidate from the 2023 election.
All members of the Delta State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, and commissioners also followed the governor to the APC.
Similarly, numerous opposition members in the National Assembly have recently defected to the ruling party.
