Police Speaks On Alleged Boko Haram Invasion Of Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has clarified that a video circulating on social media, which alleges an invasion of the state by suspected Boko Haram members along the Ibadan Expressway, is old and has been recycled.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Adewale Osifeso, stated on Tuesday that the video, which supposedly shows trucks filled with motorcycles and weapons, has been confirmed to be a clip from 2022.

Osifeso suggested that the reappearance of the video, especially at a time of heightened security in the state, indicates a deliberate effort by individuals with harmful intentions to spread false information and create fear and unrest.

He urged the public to be alert and ignore such tactics, assuring them that the video does not represent any current threat to the state’s safety and security.

To further support their claim that the video is outdated, Osifeso pointed out that DSP.

Segun Adeyemo, the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) at the Ilero Divisional Police Headquarters who briefly appears in the video, retired from the Nigeria Police Force in August 2024 after many years of dedicated service.

Osifeso reiterated the command’s strong commitment to protecting all residents of the state.

He advised the public to refrain from sharing old video content related to previously resolved issues and encouraged them to verify any information thoroughly before sharing it on social media.
