Paris Saint-Germain secured a 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, with Ousmane Dembele scoring the decisive goal.
Dembele struck early in the fourth minute, finishing off a flowing PSG move initiated in midfield and involving Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, whose low cross he guided in off the far post.
Despite a lively atmosphere and Arsenal’s determination, PSG maintained a composed defense, limiting Arsenal’s clear-cut chances.
Arsenal had a goal by Mikel Merino disallowed for offside by VAR early in the second half. Later, Leandro Trossard was denied by a brilliant save from PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
PSG also had opportunities to extend their lead, with Bradley Barcola and Goncalo Ramos both missing clear chances late in the game.
The win gives PSG a crucial advantage heading into the second leg at the Parc des Princes on May 7th.
Arsenal will need to overturn the deficit to reach their first Champions League final since 2009.
