Fubara Returns To Port Harcourt After Two-Week Vacation Overseas

The suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has returned to the state capital, Port Harcourt, on Friday evening after a roughly two-week vacation overseas.

He arrived at the international wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, around 7 PM and was greeted by some aides.

A video showed him being escorted to a waiting SUV, which then quickly departed.

President Bola Tinubu had suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly in March following his declaration of a state of emergency in the state.

President Tinubu cited attacks on oil pipelines by militant groups amidst the growing conflict between the Governor and 27 state lawmakers, also referencing the involvement of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as reasons for the suspension.
