Sonni Tyoden, the immediate-past deputy governor of Plateau State, has died.
This was confirmed by Simon Lalong, the immediate past governor of the state, to reporters on Sunday in Jos.
Lalong, who paid a condolence visit to the deceased’s family, described his former deputy as a reliable political ally, confidant, teacher, and mentor.

“He brought significant stability, wisdom, and experience to our government.
“He worked tirelessly to ensure that we had a successful eight years tenure,” he said.
The 74-year-old former deputy governor of Plateau State, Sonni Tyoden, passed away on Sunday following a brief illness.
He was a professor of political science and had previously served as the vice chancellor of the University of Jos.
