Activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has publicly criticized Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, for his silence regarding the arrest of controversial social media critic, Verydarkman, despite widespread public outcry and protests.
In a post on X, Adeyanju questioned the renowned human rights lawyer’s lack of condemnation for VDM’s detention, given his history of defending civil liberties.
“Our revered leader and mentor, Femi Falana SAN yet to condemn the arrest of VDM. Interesting times indeed!” Adeyanju wrote.

The arrest of VDM has generated significant reactions across Nigeria, especially on social media, with numerous celebrities, influencers, and activists calling for his immediate release.
Some supporters have also staged protests in Abuja.
Drawing a parallel to past events under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, Adeyanju recalled his own actions in defending a critic who had previously incited attacks against him. “When the boy that lead people to attack me under Buhari became a victim under the same Buhari and was arrested, I was the first person to condemn it,” he added.
VDM’s continued detention remains a prominent issue, with supporters accusing authorities of abusing state power to silence dissenting voices.
