Six members of the House of Representatives from Delta State have announced their departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). Simultaneously, two members of the House from Enugu State have declared their defection from the Labour Party (LP) to the PDP.
These defections were formally announced on the floor of the House during the resumption of plenary on Tuesday, through letters read aloud to the members.
The Delta State defectors were led by Nicholas Mutu (Bomadi), a long-serving member who has represented his constituency on the PDP platform since 1999 and holds the position of Leader of the Southern regional caucus of the House.

The other Delta representatives switching to the APC are Nnamdi Ezechi (Ndokwa/Nkwuani), Jonathan Okodiko (Isoko), Thomas Eriyetomi (Warri), Julius Pondi (Burutu), and Victor Nwokolo (Ika North and South).
The two House members from Enugu State who moved from the LP to the PDP are Mark Obetta (Nsukka/Igboeze South) and Dennis Agbo (Igbo Eze North/Udenu).
In their letters of defection, the lawmakers cited the internal crises and unresolved issues plaguing their former parties at various levels as the primary reasons for their decisions to seek new political platforms.
It’s worth noting that the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, and the immediate past Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, also recently left the Peoples Democratic Party to join the All Progressives Congress two weeks prior.
