The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended Muhammad Kazaure, a former member of the House of Representatives, in Kano.
Kazaure represented the Kazaure, Roni, Gwiwa, and Yankwashi federal constituency from 2015 to 2023.
A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kazaure has been outspoken on national issues, including insecurity and corruption allegations against Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

It’s worth noting that in December 2022, the CBN refuted Kazaure’s claims of a massive diversion of stamp duty collections and allegations that Emefiele held a substantial amount of these funds in a private investors’ account.
According to reports, Kazaure was invited to the EFCC office in Kano, where he presented himself, only to be arrested and subsequently transported to Abuja on Wednesday.
The specific reasons for his invitation and subsequent arrest have not yet been officially disclosed, leading to widespread speculation regarding the circumstances of his detention.
As of the time of this report, the EFCC has not issued any official statement on the matter, leaving the public and observers questioning the basis for the former lawmaker’s arrest.
