Presenting the appointment letter to Dr. Anisere, the Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, commended the thorough process undertaken by the ministry in selecting the new Registrar.
“Your appointment, which followed a rigorous and due diligence process, was highly commendable and, am happy that eventually we were able to appoint and come up with somebody who will help our DThRBN office for the next four years,” the Minister emphasized.
Regarding the government’s goals for the dental therapist profession, he tasked the new Registrar with eliminating unlicensed practitioners and unapproved or non-accredited programs in health institutions.
“The other thing, of course, is how to grow the profession, how to ensure that we eliminate quackery from the practice of dental therapy. Because as long as we have quacks, then that means your body is failing in its primary responsibility, and the regulation of practice. And once you are regulating the practice, you are supposed to eliminate quacks,” he noted.
The minister urged Dr. Anisere to leverage his extensive experience and professional network to further the development of the dental therapists’ profession in Nigeria.
