Tinubu Inducts Two Fighter Aircraft To Tackle Insecurity

President Bola Tinubu has commissioned two attack helicopters to enhance Nigeria’s efforts in combating national security threats.

These helicopters have been added to the Nigerian Air Force fleet.

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Tinubu at the induction ceremony, which also coincided with the 61st anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force.

The two helicopters, designated NAF544 and NAF545, are intended to bolster the military’s air capabilities in addressing the country’s security challenges.

Furthermore, the Nigerian Air Force is set to receive an additional 49 aircraft by 2027.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, made this announcement during the induction of the two newly acquired 109S Trekker helicopters in Abuja, which was overseen by Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday.

He also revealed that from 2024 to date, the Nigerian Air Force has incorporated nine new aircraft into its inventory, including four T-129 attack helicopters, three King Air 360 aircraft, and the two Agusta 109S Trekker helicopters being inducted.

“In line with Mr President’s firm commitment towards Nigeria’s security, the Nigerian Air Force is poised to receive 49 more aircraft within the next two years. This includes 10 additional Augusta 109S Trekker helicopters, 12 A-1 Zulu attack helicopters, 20 M-346 attack and ground attack aircraft, and three CASA 295 military air lift aircraft,” the NAF Chief explained.
