President Donald Trump announced he intends to launch a “major investigation” into Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign, alleging that she improperly paid celebrities for endorsements.
He specifically claimed that Harris disguised endorsement payments as entertainment expenses, which he asserts is illegal.
Trump’s allegations center on Harris’s campaign’s use of celebrity endorsements, including support from figures like Beyonce and Oprah Winfrey.
Winfrey defended a $1 million payment from the Harris campaign to her production company, stating it covered costs related to hosting the candidate. Harris’s team denied rumors of a $10 million payment to Beyonce.
Campaign finance reports indicate a $75 expenditure listed as an endorsement-related cost to an environmental advocacy group.
Trump, who won the election, received limited support from the entertainment industry but garnered backing from certain influencers, such as Joe Rogan.
He also specifically called out Beyonce, Winfrey, and Bruce Springsteen, questioning how much Springsteen was paid for a campaign rally performance in Georgia.
Trump’s comments followed a previous online exchange with Springsteen, who criticized Trump’s administration as “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous.” Trump responded by calling Springsteen “Highly Overrated.”
Springsteen, a vocal critic of Trump, supported Harris after she replaced Joe Biden in the campaign.
